200ft of private beach on a secluded point — sleeps 10, plus a separate guest house
One of the best locations on Whitmore Lake, set on a secluded point with roughly 200 feet of private frontage and a clean, sandy bottom you can actually walk into. The water here is the reason people come back.
The main house has two bedrooms: a primary with a king bed, and a second with a set of bunk beds. The living space opens onto the lake side of the house, so the view is the first thing you see in the morning.
The separate guest house has its own full bathroom, laundry, an efficiency kitchen and a dining table, with a loft bed upstairs. It gives a second family or a set of grandparents somewhere to spread out rather than sharing one roof.
Ten guests sleep comfortably across the two buildings. It is an easy drive from Ann Arbor, Brighton and Howell, and well within reach of Detroit and Lansing for a week on the water without a long haul.
Ryan’s place was exactly what we wanted! Peaceful, large private lot. We fully enjoyed all he had to offer. From spending the mornings drinking coffee on the deck watching the swans, to fishing off the dock, to kayaking around the lake. The house was roomier than the listing photos appeared. Plenty of room for our family of 9 to relax and enjoy ourselves without feeling like we were on top of each other. The hammocks were a nice touch as well as use of the floating mat in the garage. Plenty of parking room for our 3 cars. We even had enough space to play pickle ball in the drive. While in town we visited the local hot spots, Whitmore Lake Tavern, Whitmore Lanes and Whitmore Links, along with Dee’s place for ice cream (which we walked to). As soon as we walked in the door, we felt at home and after the 1st day everyone was asking if we could book again for next year. Overall we had a fabulous time.
The property is beautiful, just as described! We enjoyed our stay, thank you!
From start to finish everything was exactly as described. Ryan is a great host and the property was beautiful!! We definitely recommend this property and would love to reserve it again in the near future.
Place would great. Would recommend
Was a wonderful change of pace from local house for couple week staycay. Best view on the lake. Will miss the swans every morning.
Very nice residence. Kids had a very good time.
Twenty minutes north of Ann Arbor and about the same south of Brighton, on a lake people have been coming to since the interurban ran out from Detroit. Close enough to a game day or a conference, far enough that you hear loons instead of traffic.
Main Street and State Street for dinner, the Diag and the art museum for an afternoon, and Michigan Stadium on six or seven Saturdays a year when the whole county fills up.
Four thousand acres on the Huron River — paddling, a swimming beach, and mountain-bike loops that stay rideable well into November.
Kent Lake, a nature center where the chickadees land on your hand, and a paved loop that is the best easy ride in the area.
The Mill Pond and its boardwalk, a genuinely good main street, and enough restaurants that you are not eating at the same one twice.
Canoe launches on the Huron, disc golf, and river trails that are quiet on a weekday.
Close enough that a Friday-night arrival still gets you to the lake before bed.
Summer is the lake — swimming, boats, long evenings. Autumn is the best-kept secret: color through October, cool nights, and no lines for anything. Winter is quiet and genuinely pretty. Spring is mud, then suddenly it is not.
